Chile’s space history began in 1958 and has evolved into a complex dynamic over the years. Early engagement in space activities laid the foundation for the development of robust capabilities, particularly in space diplomacy. However, the country has faced significant challenges in establishing a cohesive national space structure that supports the development of sustainable, long-term space programs. These challenges have directly impacted the decision-making process, including the regulation of national space activities. Despite early achievements, the lack of a consolidated national framework has hindered the ability to advance and sustain comprehensive space initiatives. This paper explores the evolution of Chile’s space capabilities, the difficulties encountered in creating a unified space infrastructure, and the implications for national policy and regulation. By examining these factors, this chapter aims to provide insights into how Chile can overcome current obstacles and enhance its space program’s effectiveness and sustainability

摘要
