The preservation of digital and digitalized cultural heritage is a growing challenge in the face of rapid technological change and evolving digital formats. In this panel we discuss strategies for safeguarding digital cultural artifacts, including demoscene productions, early home computer software, and interactive virtual reconstructions. We examine how technology can enhance accessibility while ensuring long-term preservation, but also what risks are associated with the dynamic development of the field. Furthermore, we discuss the psychological benefits of engaging with digital cultural heritage, emphasizing its role in fostering well-being and social identity.
