This chapter focuses on the financial aspects of institutional care, namely how much it costed and who covered this cost. It analyses how these issues shaped the hospitals' functions and profile, highlights the multiple agents that controlled the hospitalisation process, and argues that institutional mental health care was hard to access for the disadvantaged social strata in early twentieth-century Greece.
