This chapter traces the development of psychiatric legislation and institutions in Greece, with reference to their European examples. It highlights the problems of mental health care in Greece in the early twentieth century, as well as the similarities and differences between the two case-study hospitals, and illustrates the multiplicity of actors that shaped their operation.
