Environmental Education Through Clubs and Climate Resilience: A Statistical Analysis of Activation Factors
摘要
Environmental education is now a fundamental pillar of sustainable development. In this context, in Morocco, the integration of environmental education into educational systems is therefore seen as an essential means to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (Améziane, 2018). In this sense, environmental clubs are crucial components of environmental education and can play a vital role in combating the impacts of climate change through school-based activities. In this contribution, we aim to analyze the various factors that contribute to the success or failure of environmental clubs as a critical pillar in the fight against climate change impacts. Forty-two individuals were selected to respond to a questionnaire designed to analyze the factors that hinder or facilitate the activation of these clubs, which are fundamental structures for fostering an environmental culture aimed at addressing climate change. Therefore, it is crucial to pay particular attention to enhancing the training programs dedicated to environmental clubs by strengthening not only the quality of the training provided but also the material and financial resources allocated to them. This includes increasing the budgets available, providing appropriate materials for awareness-raising and hands-on activities, as well as supporting innovative initiatives emerging within these clubs. Additionally, it is essential to ensure the allocation of a significant portion of the school’s scheduled hours specifically for extracurricular activities, with priority given to environmental clubs. This measure would allow students more time and resources to fully engage in long-term projects focused on environmental protection. Such an approach would not only strengthen the impact of environmental clubs on sustainability education but also intensify collective efforts to combat the effects of climate change, particularly through the implementation of concrete, local solutions while raising awareness among younger generations about the major ecological issues that will shape their future.
