This chapter investigates the challenges and opportunities in environmental communication by examining its fluctuating significance in the field of environmental education. It explores influential theories of communication, including the factors of sender, message, receiver, and context, in a process model, as well as the role of persuasive and educational communication in increasing awareness and facilitating sustainable behaviors. A contrastive examination of media variants shows how different media are used to persuade people on how to engage with (or avoid) various environmental problems. The study also explores participatory communication strategies as mechanisms for mobilizing civic engagement and resulting in sustained environmental stewardship. Students from Ben M’Sik, Casablanca, were surveyed for a quantitative study aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of these communication strategies in environmental education. Questionnaires indicate that students understand the value of environmental education; however, there is considerable variation in awareness and engagement. Results reflect a strong preference on the part of learners toward interactive and experiential learning experiences involving field trips and participation in eco-clubs over passive styles of learning. In addition, the findings indicate that the use of social media and digital tools has considerable potential to help determine how students perceive the environment, but that potential remains largely untapped. These findings highlight the importance of integrating participatory constituency methods and digitally driven engagement strategies in environmental education. Experiential learning and community engagement are critical to fostering sustained behavior change, but implementing these innovations adds additional layers of complexity to healthcare education. This study contributes to the existing literature on environmental communication by underlining the importance of strategic and multidimensional communication strategies toward achieving sustainable practices.

摘要
