Evaluation of the Efficiency of Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Using Hydrogel Sublimation
摘要
The hydrogel absorbs water in an amount up to 200 times its own mass, and gives it away in the form of low-pressure steam under normal conditions. This allows it to be used as a gas generator for spacecraft propulsion systems. The absence of the most usual elements of the pneumohydraulic circuit simplifies and reduces the cost of such a propulsion system, as well as increases its reliability. Hydrogel sublimation based thruster can be the simplest low thrust propulsion option for the spacecraft.
