Research into an Alternative Method of Utilization of Associated Petroleum Gas
摘要
An alternative method of monetizing the electricity generated at power plants located in remote regions and operating on associated petroleum gas has been explored. This method involves using cryptocurrency mining technology in data centers situated near hydrocarbon extraction sites. A comparative analysis of the efficiency of the proposed associated petroleum gas utilization technology versus its traditional usage has been conducted, considering the experience of Gazprom Neft's mining farms at a hydrocarbon field in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area in Russia, using Antminer S9 and Antminer S19j Pro application-specific integrated circuits. Bitcoin was chosen as the cryptocurrency for the comparative analysis. An example of automating the calculation of mining farm profits in the GNU Octave environment using the BINANCE API and Blockchain API is provided. The advantages and disadvantages of utilizing associated petroleum gas with cryptocurrency mining technology are analyzed. Decision-making algorithms in the lifecycle of mining equipment are proposed. The economic and legal risks of using cryptocurrencies are assessed. The environmental aspects associated with the proposed method of generating profit for oil companies are examined. The prospects for the development of this technology under safe operation conditions of oil and gas industry facilities are considered.
