Interdisciplinary Studies on Urban Resilience: Urban Digital Twins and Construction 5.0 for Resilient, Sustainable and Smart Cities
摘要
The SDuMuRS framework emphasizes sustainability, durability, multi-hazard resistance, resilience, and smart monitoring guides the design of future urban infrastructures. This approach aligns with global sustainability objectives, including net-zero emissions by 2050 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Urban resilience, defined through engineering, ecological, and socio-ecological perspectives, focuses on a city’s capacity to withstand and adapt to various shocks. Urban Digital Twins (UDTs) emerge as pivotal tools in smart city development. These digital replicas of urban environments facilitate real-time interaction and decision-making, enhancing infrastructure management and sustainability efforts. UDTs integrate data from various sources, enabling scenario modeling, emergency preparedness, and infrastructure optimization. However, challenges such as data management, interoperability, cybersecurity, and public engagement persist. Construction 5.0 represents the next evolution in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector, emphasizing human-centric technology, resilience, and sustainability. It integrates digital technologies like AI, IoT, and blockchain to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impacts. Key aspects include adaptive technologies for risk mitigation, energy-efficient designs, smart buildings with automated systems, circular economy principles, and automation in construction workflows. Despite its potential, challenges such as high initial investment costs, workforce upskilling, data security concerns, and regulatory constraints need to be addressed. Integrating resilience into urban planning is crucial, especially in rapidly urbanizing areas with weak institutional frameworks and vulnerability to climate change. Failure to provide essential services exacerbates social and economic vulnerabilities. Aligning urban development with the SDGs, particularly SDG 11, advocates for inclusive, clean, resilient, and sustainable cities. Urban digital twins and Construction 5.0 offer frameworks for integrating resilience and sustainability into urban planning and construction practices.Future research should explore human-centered approaches and interdisciplinary methodologies to optimize urban planning and construction practices, ensuring long-term sustainability and resilience in urban environments.
