Superficial Venous Insufficiency
摘要
Insufficiency of the superficial venous system remains an obscure topic, little discussed in medical education and poorly understood by the public at large. This chapter organizes the topic based on the Clinical-Etiology-Anatomy-Pathophysiology (CEAP) classification to understand the disease’s condition and discuss differential diagnosis. Other conditions, such as limb swelling and neuropathy, pose a clinical challenge for diagnosis, as they may be concurrently present, leaving superficial venous insufficiency underdiagnosed and undertreated for years. Studies have demonstrated that early venous reflux ablation not only prevents late-stage venous ulcer disease but also promotes healing when present. This chapter discusses different ablation methods, indications, and contraindications.
