Courageous advocacy is about social action – about producing students who are not afraid to take action, know that it is important to do what is right, even when it feels uncomfortable. Typically, it takes various forms including support for, say, a foodbank, taking part in an ‘agents of change’ programme to tackle Islamophobia, raising money to help children in Gaza, supporting clothing banks to provide clothing to refugees, and even ‘sleeping rough’ to raise awareness of homelessness. This case study demonstrates how students can be encouraged to be more caring individuals concerned about the betterment of society.
