The Legislative Assembly is the main organ of Legislative Power in the Republic of Costa Rica. It is one of the two representative institutions in the Costa Rican political system, alongside the executive power. While it is often referred to as the “First power of the Republic,” both the legislative and presidential powers hold equal significance in the country’s presidential system. As discussed above, these powers operate independently but collaborate for effective governance.
