This chapter describes the state of the art of mentoring programs in Croatia. The first formal mentoring program for children and youth, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), was introduced in Croatia in 1998. Subsequent development of mentoring programs in the country was heavily influenced by the standards of BBBS. These programs are overviewed, as well as findings on their impacts. Having in mind the great potential of mentoring programs for positive youth outcomes, three interrelated aspects for the enhancement of mentoring in Croatia are identified: the development of formal professional mentoring programs, the development of quality standards at the national level, and the systematic evaluation of the effectiveness of mentoring programs.
