Optimization of Electric Discharge Machining Parameters of Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites
摘要
This paper focuses on the optimization of machining parameters during electric discharge machining (EDM) of Aluminium-based metal matrix composites (MMCs) (Al-10% SiC), which are fabricated through stir casting process. The identified key process parameters include flushing pressure, pulse on time and current, while the process responses are surface roughness (SR), tool wear rate (TWR), material removal rate (MRR) and radial overcut (ROC). Based on a comprehensive literature review, the levels for each parameter are determined. L27 orthogonal array (OA) is employed to design the experiments and EDM is performed on the fabricated samples. The optimized process parameters are identified using Taguchi grey relational analysis (Taguchi GRA) technique.
