In conclusion, this chapter stresses the necessity of counter spaces in transitional democracies. At the same time, it reflects on the unique affordances of each of these spaces while arguing that counter space needs to be more welcoming of its own ‘other’. While acknowledging the cacophonous nature of the overall public sphere, it still stresses its potential for democratising must not be underestimated in hybrid democracies.
