An Image Atlas of Mandibular Postcanine Tooth Crowns Attributed to Paranthropus
摘要
Mandibular dental remains attributed to robust australopiths have been recovered from fossil localities in South AfricaSouth(ern) Africa, KenyaKenya, TanzaniaTanzania, and EthiopiaEthiopia. This vast sample, numbering hundreds of specimens, has been well documented but poorly imaged in publications. Furthermore, the basis for the inferred tooth position of isolated teethTeeth is not well documented. This presents considerable challenges to scientists evaluating previous research on these specimens and identifying specimens that would be appropriate for new research projects. This chapter provides an up-to-date and comprehensive atlas of the mandibular postcanine dental sample attributed to Paranthropus from African sites.
