Imposing Structure onto the World
摘要
Cognitive Metaphysics is a new metaphysical framework that traces the essential structural qualities of ordinary objects to human cognitive processes. This approach involves identifying reliable cognitive processes, describing them algorithmically, and deriving the qualities of experienced objects from these processes. This leads to a debunking of certain metaphysical assumptions about the nature of reality. The chapter details how Cognitive Metaphysics relates to other metaphysical approaches discussed in previous chapters and how it overcomes their limitations. In the spirit of Kantian metaphysics, which treats metaphysics and epistemology as entangled, Cognitive Metaphysics is presented as an approach that relies on a particular interpretation of Kant’s understanding of metaphysics, grounded in scientific discoveries.
