The “Technical Core” of Future Schools: Some Implications for School Leaders
摘要
This chapter steps outside the boundaries of ISSPP evidence about successful leadership in today’s schools and considers what the most plausible future goals of education might mean for the capacities school leaders will need in the intermediate future. Samples of influential sets of “21st-century skills and global competences” are analyzed as sources of future educational goals. A threefold classification of these goals is proposed— Going Deeper goals, Going Wider goals, and Going Further goals. Samples of specific goals in each of these categories are provided. While these three categories of goals are proposed as a likely focus for schools of the future, they are by no means novel. For this reason, there is a relatively large corpus of evidence about pedagogies for their achievement. Samples of these pedagogies are summarized in this chapter along with recommendations for future leadership developers.
