Towards a Safer Future: Concluding Reflections, Future Research, and Policy Priorities
摘要
The present chapter synthesizes the key insights from the preceding discussions on the history of acid attacks, experiences, and rehabilitation of acid attack victims, as presented in the book. It offers a comprehensive reflection on the progress made in understanding and addressing acid violence, highlighting both achievements and persisting challenges. The chapter underscores the critical need for holistic rehabilitation approaches that encompass medical, psychological, and social support to ensure comprehensive recovery of the survivors. It also identifies gaps in current research, advocating for more nuanced studies that explore the intersectionality of gender, socio-economic status, and regional disparities in acid violence. Furthermore, it delineates urgent policy priorities aimed at preventing acid attacks, enhancing legal frameworks, and promoting survivor-centric initiatives. By envisioning a collaborative, multi-stakeholder strategy, the present chapter aspires to contribute to the ongoing efforts to eradicate acid violence and support survivors in reclaiming their lives with dignity and empowerment.
