In the last decade, the concept of “great obstetrical syndromes” (GOS) has been proposed in reference to the most important disorders, which can occur in pregnancy with possible adverse maternal-fetal-neonatal outcomes. This term describes the clinical heterogeneity associated with abnormal vascular adaptation of the maternal spiral arteries during the endovascular trophoblast invasion process. These syndromes include: gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, preterm delivery, premature preterm rupture of membranes (P-PROM), intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), and fetal death.

摘要
