Travis Young was among the best regional physicians in the country. With his superior skills and his zeal for patient-centered care, his ingenuity took him down the path of inventing a nerve block kit that could be recycled. With the input of the biomedical division of Trinity, and the support of the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation, all of the components, including the wrapping, could be used again. He ordered 50 kits as a demo and compared every item in the re-sterilized kit to the original kits. There was absolutely no difference in the quality of the recycled kits.
