Fifty-five percent of those who die from being hit by a train are suicides, and 1% are thrown on the tracks. The remaining are accidents. Tara was in the 1% group. Tara was almost a homicide. Her debilitating condition was fueled by multiple surgeries and countless stump problems. An ill-fitting prosthesis replaced by another ill-fitting prosthesis. Her mental health problems included isolation, loneliness, and night terrors. Tara found it difficult to keep friendships, and dates were scarce. She needed to move as far away from New York City as possible.
