Toward a Circular Economy: Strategies for Resource Efficiency and Waste Reduction in Sustainable Development
摘要
This chapter delineates integrated strategies to enhance resource efficiency and minimize waste within the agricultural sector to advance sustainable agricultural development. It underscores pivotal approaches such as precision farming, circular economy models, and technological innovations that foster sustainability, resilience, and environmental stewardship. Resource efficiency is addressed through the optimized utilization of water, energy, and nutrients, facilitated by precision agriculture tools, including satellite imaging, IoT devices, and data analytics, which enable real-time monitoring and improved decision-making. The chapter further examines adopting renewable and energy-efficient practices for sustainable resource management. Waste reduction is analyzed using agricultural by-products such as composting, bioenergy generation, and recycling, grounded in circular economy principles. The discussion encompasses implementation challenges, such as knowledge gaps, infrastructural deficits, and socio-economic barriers, and offers policy and capacity-building recommendations to address these issues. Real-world case studies illustrate the effectiveness of these approaches across diverse agricultural contexts. The chapter provides a roadmap for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers by integrating scientific research, technological tools, and practical insights. It emphasizes the importance of a systemic approach to embedding resource efficiency and waste minimization in agriculture, thereby contributing to global sustainability goals and ensuring long-term agricultural viability.
