Femoral Nerve Block
摘要
The femoral nerve block is a widely used regional anaesthesia technique for analgesia and anterior thigh, knee, and medial leg anesthesia. It targets the femoral nerve as it exits the psoas major and passes under the inguinal ligament, providing effective pain relief for procedures such as hip fractures, knee arthroplasty, and anterior thigh surgery. Ultrasound guidance enhances accuracy by identifying the femoral nerve lateral to the femoral artery beneath the fascia iliaca. The in-plane or out-of-plane approach ensures effective blockade with 10–20 ml of local anaesthetic. Complications include quadriceps weakness, vascular puncture, and haematoma formation. Continuous catheter techniques provide prolonged postoperative analgesia.
