Clavicle fractures are the most common fractures of the shoulder girdle. The clavicle has complex sensory innervation and patients often experience severe pain in the postoperative period. A multimodal strategy that includes a combination of regional blocks (interscalene or superior trunk brachial plexus plus superficial/intermediate cervical plexus) and analgesic drugs is widely described in the literature. Selective targeting of the supraclavicular nerves and newer blocks like the clavipectoral fascial plane block are gaining prominence. In this chapter we discuss the clavicle’s complex innervation and the various regional blocks that may be used to provide analgesia for clavicle surgery.
