While parent-based treatment of childhood externalizing disorders has a strong evidence base, challenges, including parent engagement, remain an obstacle to achieving effective treatment outcomes. These challenges are compounded in the Orthodox community where culturally specific stigma and skepticism remain considerable impediments to treatment buy-in. This chapter explores a pre-treatment narrative that synthesizes Torah-based and psychologically-based sources to facilitate parental engagement with classic, evidence-based externalizing disorder treatments to enhance treatment success.

摘要

While parent-based treatment of childhood externalizing disorders has a strong evidence base, challenges, including parent engagement, remain an obstacle to achieving effective treatment outcomes. These challenges are compounded in the Orthodox community where culturally specific stigma and skepticism remain considerable impediments to treatment buy-in. This chapter explores a pre-treatment narrative that synthesizes Torah-based and psychologically-based sources to facilitate parental engagement with classic, evidence-based externalizing disorder treatments to enhance treatment success.
