The socio-relational dimension of violence represents a pivotal axis of inquiry within the research project. On the one hand, it defines violence as a social relationship, and on the other, it exemplifies how this relationship is represented in film through the construction of characters and their interactions. The characters in the Latin American films under examination illustrate the intricate interrelationship between perpetrators and victims of the various forms of violence. The concepts of identity, cultural otherness and radical otherness are inextricably linked with criminological aspects such as racialisation and the stigmatisation of groups, as well as the legitimisation of violence by groups or against groups. The analysis encompasses both traditional and non-traditional perpetrators, as well as the recurrent and ideal victims represented in the films.
