This study explores the use of GitHub Classroom to deliver immediate, automated feedback in an Introduction to Programming course. By integrating continuous integration and JUnit testing, students received real-time responses to their code, enabling iterative improvements before final submission. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining analysis of commit activity across four assignments with student survey data. Most students made multiple submissions and corrected errors quickly, often within an hour. Survey results showed high satisfaction, with students reporting better understanding, increased independence, and greater motivation. The findings suggest that GitHub Classroom enhances formative assessment by fostering engagement, timely error correction, and self-regulated learning. This approach transforms programming assignments into active learning experiences and holds promise for broader application in programming education.
