Towards Inclusive Guidelines for Web Design for Adults with ADHD
摘要
Despite the growing prevalence of ADHD, there remains a lack of formal guidance on designing web experiences specifically for adults with this form of neurodiversity. This preliminary study explores the potential impacts of informal design guidelines aimed at addressing the needs of individuals with ADHD. A small-scale comparative evaluation was conducted with 14 participants, half of whom were diagnosed with ADHD, using an online banking website and a redesigned version incorporating ADHD-friendly design recommendations. The findings suggest a promising direction, as participants with ADHD experienced greater challenges interacting with the original website, while both groups benefited from the redesigned version. This study aims to inform future research on developing design guidelines that address the specific needs of users with ADHD, while also emphasising the broader advantages of inclusive design practices.
