Exploring User Satisfaction as a Success Criterion in Information Systems Projects: A Position Paper
摘要
User satisfaction is one of key factors of usability in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and a recurring criterion for the success of information systems (IS) projects. In the context of project management, defining and monitoring success criteria throughout the entire project lifecycle can lead to cost reductions in training, error correction, and even help prevent client loss; among these criteria is the user satisfaction. This study aims to investigate how user satisfaction is addressed in both the HCI and success management literature; to propose that HCI can contribute to IS project management by providing usability evaluation methods; to identify and explore HCI methods that can be applied throughout the entire project lifecycle, supporting various stages such as conception, development, implementation, and evaluation; and to argue that HCI approaches provide the necessary support to guide project managers’ decision-making processes when aiming to consider user satisfaction as a success criterion.
