VR storytelling has been evolving from 360-degree videos having three degrees of freedom (3DoF) to experiences having six degrees of freedom (6DoF) environments, where audiences transition from passive to active participants. This shift grants participants greater agency of movement and gaze for experiencing the narrative, thus posing significant challenges for storytellers. For this study we have designed and developed a 6DoF VR narrative, Into the Manhole, an unguided and non-interactive experience. Here, we explore the significance of perceptual cues (Visual, Audio, Spatial, and contextual) in VR 6DoF narratives and their impact on guiding the participants’ attention to different plot points.

摘要
