Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation in Bicuspid Aortic Valves
摘要
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) represents a good alternative to surgery for the treatment of aortic valve stenosis in patients at different surgical risks. A bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the most frequent congenital valvular defect, affecting between 0.5% and 2% of the general population, with a prevalence of male patients. BAV anatomy usually presents complex features with a higher risk of accelerated valve degeneration. Thus, treatment of BAVs with TAVI requires a tailored approach, since they show heterogeneous anatomies and a strategy encompassing every phenotype is not feasible.
