Future TAVI Challenges: Asymptomatic Aortic Stenosis, Moderate Aortic Stenosis with Heart Failure and TAVI-in-TAVI Procedures
摘要
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has evolved into a safe and effective treatment strategy for severe aortic stenosis across all risk-factor profiles. Improvements in device technology, procedural techniques and operator experience have fuelled an expansion in the indications for TAVI, which is now being considered for treating patients with asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis, moderate aortic stenosis with heart failure or with degenerated surgical and transcatheter aortic valves (TAV). In this chapter, we appraise the latest evidence and highlight the unique technical and procedural challenges regarding TAVI in these new clinical scenarios.
