The article is devoted to the impact of digitalization of modern society on people with disabilities, identifying various aspects of this process. The purpose of this study is to examine the readiness of people with disabilities to be involved in the new digital reality, their use of digital public services, social networks and various applications for mobile devices. The research methodology includes a review of the literature on disability and social inclusion, as well as an empirical analysis of data obtained from a survey of people with disabilities conducted at the St. Petersburg Institution “Professional Rehabilitation Center”. The results of the study show that digitalization helps to strengthen the transition from the traditional model of understanding disability to a social one based on a comprehensive health model. However, strengthening digital transformation not only strengthen known forms of inequality, stigmatization and exclusion, but also give rise to new ones, such as relative digital deprivation and “crip-dissonance”. The study revealed insufficient use of and trust in regional digital services, as well as weak implementation of the network potential of social networks for people with disabilities. The study also showed the presence of technical barriers to the use of digital services, their non-compliance with accessibility standards. The results obtained allow us to formulate recommendations for improving digital accessibility and social integration of people with disabilities.
