Water Governance Challenges for Climate Change Adaptation in Sri Lanka: Analyzing Strategic Frameworks
摘要
This chapter explores the challenges of water governance in Sri Lanka within the context of climate change adaptation. It critically examines the strategic frameworks outlined in the National Climate Change Strategy (2011–2016), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) 2021, the NDC Implementation Plan (2021–2030), the National Environment Policy (2022), the National Policy on Climate Change (2023), and the National Adaptation Plan (2016–2024). The analysis identifies key gaps and opportunities within existing governance structures, offering recommendations to strengthen adaptive capacity in the water sector. The article aims to advance the discourse on sustainable water management and climate resilience in Sri Lanka by providing a comprehensive review of these national policies and action plans.
