Perhaps a few years ago, when authors sought to discuss the importance of computer ethics, they had to either focus on specific cases with negative consequences for a relatively small subsection of society or emphasize the potential for wrongdoing by computing systems. In recent years, however, there has been no shortage of real-life examples of the unethical misconduct of computer systems and newly designed technologies that have influenced many of their users. A glance at several published books in recent years not only shows the variety and prevalence of examples of negative impact of technology in the modern economy but also the significance of these influences as vast bodies of society members are directly and indirectly experiencing them daily.
