The Japanese automobile industry faced challenges from digital and green transformation, crucially affecting sectors that employed 5.54 million people, or 8.2% of the workforce. Digital and green strategies were adopted, but their impacts were still under observation. The software-defined vehicle drove innovation and success in the ecosystem. The research result shows these transformations are reshaping market structures and influencing strategic approach and performance. Digital and green strategies remain critical for enhancing competitiveness. Collaboration between governments and businesses is vital. The development of new business models for next-generation vehicles is still underway.
