The aim of “Linking Arts with Biocultural Conservation, Restoration, and Communication” acquires new relevance in the context of China’s effort to construct ecological civilization, promote rural revitalizationRevitalization, and achieve common prosperity. In this vein, we propose in this chapter a rural revitalization model for traditional villages based on natural and cultural assets under a novel urban-rural relationship in China: Wangshan Life (望山生活). This model, rooted in reflection on the modern urban-rural relationship, aims to prioritize the consideration of ecology and conservation of natural/cultural heritage. Meanwhile, its theoretical basis involved an examination of the conventional urban-rural relationship through discourses such as ecosystem services, human well-being, and demand theory. By proper planning, designing, and management of rural villages, Wangshan Life established renewed urban-rural linkage, bringing about multiple benefits, including: (1) providing high-quality cultural and ecological services for urban and rural areas, meeting the aspirations of urban residents for a desirable rural lifestyle; (2) transforming green mountains, clean rivers, and nostalgia into economic benefits, promoting common prosperity of urban and rural residents; and (3) revitalizing rural areas. In this chapter, we summarize and present the experiences of Wangshan Life related to the nine-year rural revitalization practices in Xixinan Village in Huizhou, Anhui Province, China. The substance and methodology of rural revitalization based on the renewed, post-modern, and vibrant urban-rural relationship is defined, offering a market-oriented and sustainable revitalization model for traditional villages.

摘要
