Colonialities, Decolonisation, and Harnessing Financial Sovereignty and Economic Structures
摘要
This chapter reminds the reader about the longstanding ubiquitous historical and hegemonic influence of colonialism in West Africa that presents challenges and opportunities for urban transition. It underscores France’s control in Central, and West Africa over the last four decades. The chapter highlights the importance of Africa transitioning as a bloc and that with the French former colonies, three strategic actions are needed for the transition and effective decolonization. Strategic recalibration of financial sovereignty, decoupling from historical economic structures and leveraging diaspora to fully integrate into African Unity for Development under Agenda 20263.
