We are currently living in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a transformative period marked by the convergence of technologies that increasingly blur the boundaries between the physical, digital, and biological realms. This revolution is driven by rapid advancements in a range of fields, including artificial intelligence, robotics, commercial drones, blockchain technology, deepfakes, hyper-speed travel hyperloops, the Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles, 3D printing, nanotechnology, biotechnology, gene editing technology, renewable energy, and quantum computing. Together, these innovations are reshaping industries, economies, and societies at an unprecedented pace. The aim of this chapter is to discuss the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on higher education institutions (HEI) and the factors decision-makers in HEI should consider when they strategically plan in the area of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and beyond.
