This chapter talks about green education and how academic institutions may help make the world more sustainable by raising awareness and encouraging environmental debates. Green education is a revolutionary framework that gives students, universities, and society the potential to do things that will save the environment. HEIs can play a leading role in promoting awareness of the environment, making sustainability a part of strategic planning, and getting people involved in their communities. We look in this chapter at how HEIs approach sustainability in their courses, scientific research, operations, and strategic relationships. We look at best practices and case studies from around the world. Moreover, we discuss how green education raises awareness, improves environmental literacy, changes policy, and impacts global goals like the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
