Precision Production Technologies for Edible Flowers
摘要
Edible flowers have been widely used due to their nutritional, medicinal, and aesthetic values. In recent years, advanced production techniques, particularly used in controlled environment agriculture (e.g., greenhouses and vertical farms) have been introduced and initiated in edible flowers production to reduce production cost, increase yield and optimize resource use efficiency. This review illustrates recent advances in control systems for microclimatic conditions (e.g., artificial light, temperature and humidity control), IoT for real-time data collection (e.g., sensor network, and image-based machine learning data analysis), greenhouse automation and control system (e.g., precision fertilization and irrigation, artificial intelligence guided harvesting and storage technologies). Sustainability and environmental impact of edible flowers is highlighted, and emerging trends and innovations in precision edible flower farming are discussed.
