Ensuring their safe use requires understanding interactions with biological systems and the environment. This chapter examines the classification of nanomaterials, their properties related to biosafety regulations, and concerns such as toxicity and environmental persistence. It examines existing regulatory frameworks and highlights their challenges in keeping pace with fast-evolving nanotechnology. The need for adaptive policies and international standards is emphasized. Recommendations are proposed to improve safety and responsibility in nanotechnological applications.
