This chapter provides overall and concluding remarks on some of the issues covered in the book. It does so in two ways. On the one hand, I revisit some of the major concepts and debates on human rights in African philosophy. On the other hand, I will indicate ways in which future research might advance the discourse on human rights in African philosophy. In what follows, I will traverse four specific themes as a way to bring this chapter to a close (a) the debate on the concept of personhood, (b) the debate on human dignity; (c) reflections on the concept and place of human rights in African thought and d) skepticism regarding human rights.
