This chapter covers how the human habitat interacts as a stage with the farm and how stages that contain macroscopic aerobic organisms, like animals and mushrooms, are assembled and interact with the rest of the farm. Human models, and how human water is managed and cycled inside the habitat, are key concerns for the space farm connected to the habitat. Various designs in the chapter foster growth in crop species, from aquatic species such as fish and shrimp, to terrestrial species such as rabbits and chickens, to mushrooms. Several growth chamber ideas are discussed and how these growth areas are combined into stages.
