Innovating Tradition: Saudi Women Artists as Agents of Cultural Change
摘要
This study is about the art of two Saudi artists, Manal AlDowayan and Mawadah Muhtasib. Their works are very well known worldwide. These artists have used installations, photography, and Arabic writing to discuss women's rights, life in Saudi Arabia, and how women see themselves. AlDowayan’s “Tree of Guardians” and “I Am” series, as well as Muhtasib’s “Once Upon a Time” and “Sunrise” series, will be looked at. This shows how much they care about their country and people. This piece shows how important AlDowayan and Muhtasib’s art is for learning and enjoying Saudi society. People who read it value and admire Saudi culture. They do not say anything bad about Saudi society; instead, they focus on the beauty and depth of Saudi art. The study is critical because it examines art to understand other societies and shows that women’s voices are heard in Saudi Arabia. This piece shows the work of these artists to respect their artistic achievements and to show how important women are for growth and change in any society.
