This research was conducted within the framework of the Resource Based View Theory (RBV), with the objective of analyzing the innovation capability (IC) and access to finance (ATF) as mediators and moderators between entrepreneurial opportunity recognition (EOR) and entrepreneurial success (ES) in Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Malaysia. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire from 401 micro-enterprises in Malaysia. The study employed structural equation modeling to test the hypotheses. The results support the argument that ATF negatively impacts the relationship between IC and ES. The study further uncovered the contribution that IC is a partial mediator between EOR and ES. The authors also pointed out the gap in literature where there have been no existing studies that focus on ATF and IC as joint mediators and moderators to the relationship of EOR and ES in one study.
