The paper conducts thematic analysis review to highlight the important roles of women’s universities across the GCC in promoting leadership and women empowerment. Based on peer-reviewed studies published from 2015 to 2024 in high-impact journals indexed in Scopus and Springer, the research pulls together evidence that the unique impact of these institutions can be attributed to them fostering academic excellence as well as transformative productive personal growth, adding to the body of work that helps make people aware of what these institutions bring. The analysis reveals four common threads, inspirational leaders developing leadership skills through customized academic and extracurricular offerings, empowering academic environments that enhance self confidence and agency, culture-bridge institutional factors, and the link between university experiences and better career outcomes. The results indicate that women-only institutions offer tailored support mechanisms and innovative frameworks for leadership development, which help these students not only navigate their cultural constraints, but prepare them for leadership positions in society. The research offers educators, policymakers and societal partners clarity in adjusting educational approaches and gender equity efforts, highlighting the broader socio-economic impact of expanding access to education for women. This paper is intended as part of a growing dialogue concerning gender as a theme within the GCC, and the implications for regional education and leadership, as well as a need to consider longitudinal effects of these structures, as well as comparative features from different educational environments, e.g. co-educational institutions.
