The Digital Twin of an Organization (DTO) rapidly changes how businesses operate. A DTO is a dynamic, virtual replica of an organization’s processes, systems, and assets with immense potential to gain real-time visibility into its operations, optimize processes, and make data-driven decisions. However, realizing a DTO presents several obstacles, including accurately reflecting the organization and addressing technical implementation issues. This work presents a twofold contribution: a systematic analysis of existing academic literature to identify key obstacles hindering DTO adoption, and a validation workshop involving 40 working students with professional experience in the Information and Communication Technology sector. The workshop served to validate the identified challenges and elicit potential solutions. The outcome is a roadmap outlining a core set of challenges essential to the development of DTOs, along with actionable guidelines to support their implementation in organizational settings.
