Adapting to Climate Change: What Innovative Practices in Tropical Production Systems?
摘要
Agricultural and forestry systems must now balance climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas reduction, and food security. Adaptation strategies differ for annual crops, which allow incremental changes, and perennial crops, which face long-term climate stresses. Tropical crops, often grown by vulnerable family farmers, are already impacted by climate shifts, requiring changes throughout the value chain. This chapter proposes a classification of adaptation types and illustrates them with case studies on coffee and rubber. It emphasizes the importance of agroecology and climate-smart agriculture for sustainable, long-term adaptation.
